Top 5 Real Life Support Groups

Many parents, and particularly stay-at-home parents, are faced with a sense of isolation and difficulty finding other parents in their community. Real-life support groups exist to aid parents in meeting other families in order to build friendships, share advice or just interact with other adults.

1. MOMS Club, International

MOMS Club is an international support group for stay-at-home mothers and their children with over 2000 chapters in the United States and worldwide. The goal of MOMS Club, International is to offer at-home mothers an opportunity to meet with other moms and their children.

2. MOPS International

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and is a nonprofit, non-denominational Christian organization. MOPS groups offer support, advice and companionship to all mothers of preschoolers, including stay-at-home moms and working moms.

3. DAD-to-DAD

DAD-to-DAD started in 1995 to provide stay-at-home dads a chance to meet other at-home fathers and their children. This support group offers dads-night-out dinners, playgroups for the kids and other activities for stay-at-home dads and their families.

4. Mocha Moms

Mocha Moms is a support group for stay-at-home mothers of color. Mocha Moms support groups meet once a week or bimonthly and serve as an opportunity for moms to talk, form friendships and share parenting advice. Mocha Moms has a policy of policy of non-exclusivity and welcomes men and women of all religions, races, educational backgrounds and income levels.

5. Holistic Moms Network

The Holistic Moms Network is primarily for parents, both stay-at-home and working parents, who share an interest in natural health and holistic therapies and "alternative" parenting, such as extended breastfeeding, homeschooling and cloth diapering. The Holistic Moms Network has chapters across the United States. These groups meet monthly to offer support and education for parents interested in a holistic lifestyle for their families.
